5 Easy Signs To Know Your Green Cheek Conure Is Happy
Hey Birbsquad! Back with another Green Cheek Conure video but this time its some easy signs to know whether or not your Green Cheek Conure is happy. Parrots (not just green cheek conures) give us signs all the time letting us know their many different moods whether they are happy, sad, frustrated, tired, etc. Their body lets us know everything but it's up to us as their leaders to understand the green cheek conure body language.
Whether you are a beginner parrot owner or experienced in the field of understanding green cheek conures, we can all take a moment to try to understand and refresh our memories on how every parrot acts differently from the next. So if your green cheek conure or any other parrot of yours for that matter, reacts differently than what mine do definitely let us all know. There is always something new to learn with parrots.
Thanks so much again for checking out my videos. I hope they are helping you as well as motivates you to keep trying to understand your green cheek conure. Thank you again for being here.

Don't do a Video of How wonderful a Parrot is, and how to engage with it, on the hand (that bites you) don't make a Video how awful a Parrot really is! You should be so ashamed of yourself to do this interaction/s!

If an Animal is the "Runt of the Litter," which means less cared for, it can grow mean. If there was no love given to an Animal, it can be a danger to Owners. Just as if an Owner trains a good Dog to be vicious!

I Love my Conuse, but did biting come with the instructions on these Birds? Never Cage a Mean Bird, they will not be a very good investment. These Birds need training before placed in Pet Stores. Then they will be easier to enjoy.

This is a great video. I bought a perch with a big suction cup for the window behind my couch. My birds love hanging out there when I'm on the couch. Eventually my new GC was interested in me & now I'll look up at him and he'll kiss my nose. I still can't get him to get on my finger though.

We got our Quaker hunny 2 months ago when he landed on my shoulder in the backyard I instantly fell in love since I had been wanting a bird especially a parrot and thought it was either a Quaker or monk parrot but got confirmed at the vet but it had seemed to be tamed based on how it acted so I was a little hurt but knew I had to put flyers out but no one responded to them so I adopted him and named him hunny he’s the sweetest thing ever and constantly kisses me and plays peekaboo he dose tend to peck at fingers and ears though and want to see if there’s any way I can fix that cause he always bounces and makes a laughing noise after doing it we don’t know how to fix this behaviour as I’ve never owned a bird before but I love this parrot

we have one that's taken an actual chunk out of my gf's hand. we got two from a neglected home and have had them a few months now and made a lot of progress but they are both very aggressive so tips to any newbs don't buy an untamed bird. pay the extra money for a hand fed well taken of bird because you might not like what you get otherwise. I've had tamed ones they are way easier to handle. untamed may possibly never become tamed. keep that in mind when you are trying to save money and buy second hand.

Loved the video! My daughter is dealing with an unruly turquoise now. (draws blood) From chickens to Indian ringnecks lots of birds flock in the wild. Built in they (mostly males) have a passive trait where they are always pushing to be the alpha so that their DNA is carried forward with better mating opportunities food options etc. I found that a bird (even if it respects you as the alpha) will always naturally try to push that border. Some basic things you do can allow them to overcome your "perceived status" in the flock. The respect will be pushed and sometimes they need a subtle reminder that you are in charge. It's a delicate balance because, you are not a bird, and not a potential mate. But their brain tries to place you into a category: From a male birds perspective: Threat because fear (of injury/life) which most wild birds categorize us as Threat because alpha (Flock mate with respect) Non-threat because they consider you lower on the flock pecking order (beta) Non-threat because mate (beta female) Unfortunately male and female birds do not know how to define your sex and will try to read from other queues. When petting, stay away from their middle to lower back. Often times the alpha in a flock will help guide them to food/drink. That is why treats work as an incentive. It's one of the most powerful tools you have, second to that being patience and trying to think about the birds perspective when handling. Imagine a giant 1000lb hand reaching down to grab you and pushing your head around smashing their finger into your face. Being VERY gentle once you've gained basic trust will help build trust faster. When they realize you are gentle, they are more willing to work with you. After this stage you can work from the pecking order psychology much easier as you will be "accepted" into their flock. My predicament now is inconsistency. Inconsistency makes training nearly impossible (especially potty related.) My kids always wanted to hold my bird and they wouldn't listen to him when he let them know he had to go and so he eventually stopped giving queues. I also caught them chasing him once he fell off their shoulder. So he no longer waits to poop, and also bites pretty bad as he perceives fingers as a potential threat (fear) Going through retraining now but it's rough after being invalidated. (treats are your friend) Stick to positive reinforcement most as negative can be retroactive in some cases.

They want to tear begginers apart because they are losers with narcissistic personality disorder that believe they are the only ones fit to have birds and thats the only thing they have in their lives, if you take that from them then they are not special anymore. You on the other hand seem like a nice person and informative, there is no need to be rude if you are not insecure, everyone has to start at anything you want to do in life, no one starts with knowledge and experience. It's the pussyfication of society to tell you the truth, too much social media, too much easy life, too much comodities, humans are becoming weak.

A water bottle isn’t very good for a bird, it can be hard for them to stay hydrated because of the water bottle only distributes a certain amount and is extremely hard to clean properly, especially plastic ones that bacteria loves to cling to even if you wash it. Certain plastics also attract mites so you gotta be cautious. Most experienced bird owners say not to use a water bottle for this reason. Even hamsters get heavily dehydrated. My personal opinion is to use multiple water dishes, you don’t gotta change the water every two hours just have one for bathing and a couple for drinking, make the ones for drinking small enough the bird isn’t as interested in bathing in them. Birds tip their heads back to swallow water, drinking from a bottle is unnatural and difficult for them.

I really dislike the term beginner bird. Even budgies can live over a decade, parrotlets twice as long. Beginner bird to me suggests the bird is disposable or will be ignored when the keeper then gets the bird they really wanted in the first place, or that you’re going to end up with multiple demanding parrot species who all need one on one attention. If you have a species in mind that you really wanted in the first place, why not just volunteer with a bird rescue and then foster until you’re sure that’s the one you want and you have the experience to care for it? Personally, the little birds are my dream birds anyway. I like the smaller, less talky birds, I’ve never desired an African grey or a big macaw. Though I do love galahs but that is never gonna happen lol.

Poor Budgies! What made me vey sad and cross was a young bloke years ago who bought an African grey Parrot- this poor bird lived in a smoky, cold house {open fire and the owner smoked a lot } - the bird was likely an illegal import, and unsurprisingly the bird died of a respiratory illness a few weeks after purchase. He looked so miserable with fluffed up feathers.
